Rossignol X-IUM Premium rSkin

The Rossignol X-IUM Premium rSkin scores against the Speedmax with its low weight and price.

Rossignol X-IUM Premium rSkin has the same construction as the "World Cup C2" - racing skis, only with a skin inlay. The ski is of Nomex made from aromatic polyamide (aramid) fibers with 3-edge energy sensor technology and an universal K7000 base tuning.

This increases the power transfer efficiency and makes the skin skis feel lively. Its innovative shape with a narrower tip for easier insertion and a more narrow end for even better gliding behavior when double poling blurs the differences to classic wax skis.

The adjustable Turnamic binding gives you maximum performance on all types of snow. The Turnamic bindings are factory set to the neutral (0) setting, which is best for most skiers.

Thanks to an IFP binding plate, you can set it three positions forward to get more grip from your skis or move it three positions backward to get more glide. The further from the neutral setting, the more grip or glide you will get.

To slide the binding either forward or backward, requires a special key and requires more time to change unlike the “Move binding system” from Atomic or Madshus. In other words, you need to take off your skis to shift the bindings in the required position.

Despite that, the Rossignol X-IUM Premium rSkin ski is a high-performance classic racing ski that doesn’t need grip wax. When you double pole in flat or rolling terrain, you will feel the ski’s superb glide. Skiing uphill is a joy since this skin ski not only grips well but also glides excellent.

I never noticed any slipping in the climb sections and the ski hangs in the track well and doesn’t flush out around corners. Changing the tracks and stopping is very smooth as with other skin racing ski. And the acceleration is hard to beat.

However, you need to have a good leg kick as well as getting the right timing in the push-off phase. In other words, you should have a good classic technique in order to fully gather the superb performance that these skis can deliver.

If you are serious about racing in classic ski races and want a light skin ski without tedious ski waxing, then the Rossignol X-IUM Premium rSkin ski is a perfect choice. Just make sure the ski flex is appropriate according to your weight.
